Usually when you record a strikeout with two outs in baseball you head to the next half inning, but not last night in Toronto. When Hiroki Kuroda struck out J.P. Arencibia in the bottom half of the first, it resulted in two runs for the home team.
How? Kuroda’s called third strike got away from catcher Chris Stewart, who also threw the ball away while trying to throw Arencibia out at first. As the ball rolled down the first base line in foul territory, Brett Lawrie and the speedy Rajai Davis were both able to round third and score on the play.
