In 10 years, Jon Lester has played in 269 games. However, because he spent most of his career in the American League, the pitcher did not get many opportunities to bat.
Now that Lester is a member of the Chicago Cubs, the at-bat opportunities have started to come with a little more regularity and that has allowed Lester to reach another career milestone. On Monday, the Cubs pitcher recorded his first career hit against the St. Louis Cardinals’ John Lackey.
Lester received a huge ovation from the crowd because ten years is a long time to wait for your first hit in the big leagues. Before Monday night’s game, Lester was 0-66 in his batting career.
