I am a 31 year-old male residing in Santa Monica, CA who has a wonderful affinity to sports and happy hours. Being in the southern California area one would think that there are numerous options available for sports viewing, but you would be wrong. For the most part, every bar which may be showing a game has about 2 TV’s at most and never plays any sound along with the game. What you are left with is a bunch of overpriced drinks and food and barely any actual viewing of the game.
Recently, the good folks at Islands Restaurants reached out to our crew at Next Impulse Sports and offered to host us for a NFL happy hour for the second year. We jumped at the opportunity, especially after how great last year was. We gathered the crew of 5 guys and headed over to the Marina Del Rey for the first Thursday night game of the year between the Pats and Steelers.
The most important aspect of any happy hour (other than a fully stocked bar) are the prices and options on the menu. As you can see by this menu, you are completely covered on both accounts.
We dug in only like five starving men could, and ordered almost one of everything. Below are some pics of the massacre. A few pro tips if (when) you head over to your local Islands to catch some NFL football.
Make sure to order the buffalo wings. You won’t find a better wing, and especially at the $8.25 price point.
Always grab the chips and salsa from the happy hour menu, the amount of chips is enough to feed five very hungry men.
The latest addition to their main menu is the chili dog. If you do not order this, I think you have gone absolutely crazy. It is fantastic.
Save room for desert. This was as good as it looks.
The beers on tap were all delicious, and they had plenty to choose from. I ended up going the IPA route for quite a while and at the end of the night capped it off with one of their margaritas. It was awesome.
