Today’s edition of “Things That Would Only Happen In China” centers on a running track purportedly built…err…painted, inside Tonghe Country stadium in Heilongjiang province. The rectangular hack job is the result of local leaders being given short notice that Communist Party leaders would be making a formal visit to the area. It’s common for local Chinese governments to bend over backwards in order to impress their national government, and this shoddy rush job is a prime example of such practices. Speaking of practice, good luck to the poor souls who will be forced to run on this thing.
Also, this is the part where I remind you that this is the country that is supposedly going to rule the world someday.
