The Shipyard Brewing Company located in Portland, Maine is planning to get you “smashed” next month, with the limited release of its “Bourbon Barrel Aged Smashed Pumpkin Ale”. The beer, which after brewing, ages for over 3 months in bourbon barrels in a process called decantation, will highlight a creamy vanilla/pumpkin flavor, while mixing in other fall favorites like cinnamon and nutmeg. While aging in the bourbon barrels the beer will acquire just the right mix of whiskey to keep you nice and warm on those lazy, football filled Sunday afternoons. But be careful, with an ABV of 13.2% this beer is strong enough to make you miss the 2nd half.
“Bourbon Barrel Aged Smashed Pumpkin Ale” will be available, in selected markets, next month and will be sold in 750 milliliter corked bottles with a suggested retail price of $14.99.
