UAB pulled off the first shocking upset of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The 14th-seeded Blazers overcame a horrendous start to both halves to send the Big 12 tourney champion Cyclones home significantly earlier than many expected.
UAB junior guard Robert Brown hit the biggest three-pointer of his life to put his team ahead with 50 seconds remaining. After an Iowa State bucket, freshman forward William Lee hit a massive jumper before a couple free throws in the final seconds ultimately put the game away. According to Yahoo Sports, 93 percent of brackets had ISU beating UAB and 15 percent had the Cyclones in the Final Four.
