Superstar golfer Tiger Woods was making his first as making his first official PGA Tour start since the 2023 Masters at The Genesis Invitational this weekend, but in a pretty horrible turn of events for Woods, it sounds like he had to pull out of the tournament suddenly.
The PGA Tour announced on Friday afternoon that Tiger Woods had officially withdrawn from the tournament in the second round due to “illness,” though it’s not clear what the illness was or the extent of the illness.
“Tiger Woods is a WD during the second round of The Genesis Invitational due to illness,” PGA Tour Communications announced in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This was a pretty bizarre and unexpected announcement considering Woods complained about back spasms following the first round on Thursday and was seen walking with a limp.
Adding to the concerning situation, an ambulance arrived at the facilities shortly after the announcement that Woods had withdrawn due to an illness, though it’s not clear whether or not the ambulance was for Woods.

But Woods seemingly refused the ambulance.
Word now is that Tiger’s not gonna leave Riviera in an ambulance. Paramedic went into that door and came out saying “he’s not coming out.” Bizarre scenes. https://t.co/8CwlyMzW8s

All in all, it sounds like pretty scary and concerning news, and the golf world had a lot to say about it on social media.
