As Tiger Woods prepares to pursue another green jacket at the Masters this week, it sounds like he’s considering a pretty significant move in another prestigious golf event.
During his press conference ahead of the Masters this week, Tiger Woods was asked whether or not he would consider being the captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2025. And in a pretty surprising turn of events, Woods didn’t rule it out and actually seemed to suggest that those conversations are currently happening.
“We’re still talking about it,” Woods told the New York Post.
Woods was asked to elaborate on what factors were involved with whether or not he would serve as the team’s captain, and he offered a few more details.
“It’s something that Seth [Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America] and I are going to sit back and talk about it after this event,’’ Woods said. “I said I’m going to be busy for a couple weeks, so let me focus on getting through this week and hopefully getting another jacket, and then we can sit back and talk about it next week.’’
Obviously, this is pretty significant news, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

We need a killer in the game of golf again. Someone to unite the sport while kicking their teeth in on the course. Golf needs Tiger back winning again https://t.co/iwIO07pHLe

This may be the most no-brainer decision in golf. If Tiger wants to be the captain for the next 40 years they should let him do it. https://t.co/1AJ0jy02ar

We’ll have to see whether or not Woods actually decides to do it.
