Earlier this month, PGA Tour superstar Scottie Scheffler was arrested outside Valhalla Golf Club while he was on his way to compete in the second round of the PGA Championship. Scheffler will not face charges and recent video seems to indicate that the police report of the incident was inaccurate, but it does not sound like Scheffler holds anything against the arresting officer or police officers in general.
During a court hearing on Wednesday, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell said prosecutors would not pursue the case and asked for the charges to be dropped. Following this news, Scottie Scheffler took to social media to make it clear that he holds no ill will toward the arresting officer and that he holds police in “high regard.”
“I hold no ill will toward Officer [Bryan] Gillis. I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same,” Scheffler wrote in an Instagram story Wednesday, referencing the Louisville police officer who arrested him outside Valhalla Golf Club. “Police officers have a difficult job and I hold them in high regard. This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation.”
It’s clear that Scheffler just wants to move on from the incident.
