Transgender golfer Hailey Davidson was able to compete in a recent qualifying event for the upcoming U.S. Women’s Open later this month. And naturally, this had some pushback from some of the top female golfers set to take part in the U.S. Open, including LPGA Tour star Dana Fall.
Fall seemingly caught wind of Davidson’s attempt to qualify for the event, sending a message on social media to the USGA, the governing body for the U.S. Open, to voice her displeasure with the fairness of Davidson being able to potentially qualify for the event.
“@USGA I’m not sure what The U.S. WOMENS Open is anymore because I don’t understand what a woman is anymore,” tweeted Fall.

Luckily for Fall, it doesn’t seem like she will have to compete against Davidson unless something unforeseen happens ahead of the upcoming U.S. Open.
Davidson finished in third place at the qualifier on Monday, which is just outside the placing that was needed to qualify. Only the top two golfers at the qualifier earn a spot in the U.S. Open, meaning that Davidson will now be the first alternative chosen should any golfer have to withdraw from the event for any reason.
We see golfers withdraw from big events all the time, whether it be due to an injury or potentially something happening in their personal life. So there is still a chance that Davidson could very well be able to play in the U.S. Open.
Regardless, it sure seems like Dana Fall is absolutely against having to face off against Davidson.
