Former American president Donald trump faces a major betrayal from a former friend and ally on Tuesday.
Trump will be in a New York courtroom as part of the $250 million civil fraud lawsuit filed against his organization by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
James alleges the Trump Organization, under the direction of Trump and his adult sons, grossly inflated and deflated financial assets to defraud insurance companies and obtain favorable loans as they built their real estate empire.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s longtime former fixer, is set to be a key witness in the penalty phase of the trial, “which will determine the amount of damages Trump will pay,” according to UPI.
Judge Artur Engoron already issued a summary ruling stating that Trump’s business enriched itself by inflating the value of his New York properties, including his golf clubs and hotels.
“It appears that I will be reunited with my old client @realDonaldTrump when I testify this Tuesday, October 24th at the @NewYorkStateAG civil fraud trial. See you there!” Cohen wrote Friday on social media.
This will reportedly be the first time Trump has crossed paths with hi former employee in five years.
Trump, like all Americans, is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
