LIV Golf is moving to a new “internationally diverse schedule” in 2024, which is bad news for former American president Donald Trump.
According to a report from Joel Beall of Golf Digest, the Saudi-backed golf league announced that it will hold events at eight different countries for its 12 regular-season events in 2024.
Two spots on the calendar remain open, but sources told Golf Digest that one of the venues in discussion is a venue “outside of Chicago.” Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove hosted a LIV event in the past two years but was not named in the official announcement.
Trump-owned properties hosted three tournaments in 2023. Both Trump Bedminster and Trump Doral venues were part of the first two LIV seasons.
Golf Digest noted that a Trump property outside Washington D.C. also hosted an event this year. The news certainly won’t be welcomed by the former president facing 91 federal and state felony charges in four jurisdictions.
Despite the torrent of bad news, Trump is leading all Republican competitors for the party’s 2024 presidential nomination by double digits.
It’s unclear if the Saudi Government made the decision to send any message to Trump. The former president has always spoken highly of the fledging venture.
