The British Open is the oldest and one of the most prestigious golf tournaments on the planet, and former United States President Donald Trump is doing everything he can to try to convince golf’s governing body to allow his Turnberry course to host the tournament. But most people seem to think it’s simply not going to happen.
This week, the Times of Scotland reported that Donald Trump was making improvements to his Turnberry course in an attempt to convince Royal and Ancient – which is professional golf’s governing body – to allow the historic golf course to host The Open at some point in the future.
This comes after the R&A previously made it pretty clear that the Open Championship would not return to Turnberry as long as Trump and his organization owned and operated the course, citing security concerns.
As a result of the R&A’s pretty clear stance, this move from Trump to improve the course has drawn a lot of criticism from fans as many think it’s simply useless since the R&A has made up its mind already.
Could we see The Open return to Trump Turnberry? 🤔

I agree with your conclusion. It does not matter now that @TrumpTurnberry is already one of, if not the best course in the world. The R&A has made their decision clear. A renovation of two holes is not going to change anything.

Until there is better road and rail access and hotels available then, despite the quality of the course, this will remain an unfavourable Open venue.
Attendance figures are always the lowest = low revenue for the R&A

Changing their 1st name and removing Trump is the only way they’ll get back on the rota.
Can you imagine what a clown like him would do to make himself the centre of attention.

Tell Trump to save his money. It’s not going to happen whilst he’s there!

Pointless while tRump still owns it. The R&A have been pretty clear, but as usual he doesn’t want to admit it.

Most people seem pretty unconvinced that this move from Trump will do anything to change the decision from the R&A, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping Trump from trying anyway.
