EA Sports announced Monday that they will be removing Aaron Hernandez from their Madden 25 & NCAA 14 video games following the tight end’s arrest on first degree murder charges.
The 22-year old Herandez was suposed to be featured as a Patriots tight end in Madden 25 prior to the team releasing him and as an unlockable character in NCAA 14.
EA released a statement explaining their decision, which really didn’t need much of an explanation to begin with.
“We made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14. Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez’ image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer,” a spokesperson for EA Sports told CBSSports.com.
“However, he is not in the game, and anyone who unlocks that particular Nike Skills Trainer reward will receive an Alex Smith Ultimate Team player item instead. The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future.”
Bad news for anyone looking to field an all-convicts squad, good news for anyone worrying about virtual Hernandez committing any off-the-virtual field murders.
