Clint Dempsey made his home debut for his new squad, the Seattle Sounders, against the Portland Timbers in a big-time MLS matchthis weekend at a sold out CenturyLink Field. Sounders fans used the opportunity to unveil this enormous tifo, which took more than three weeks to make.
Some details on the tifo, via Emerald City Supporters:
The total size is approximately 37,000 sqft. Around 70 gallons of paint were used for 100% coverage of all 6 segments. Almost 3,000 cards were used in the wing sections of the Brougham End to help “blank” those sections and focus attention back on the display. We used 35 ropes to hoist the curtains.
And, via The Nosebleeds, comes another great display by a Sounders fan, this one a sign that uses an ‘Oregon Trail’ reference to poke fun at Portland.
Sounders fans and their creative displays helped will their team to victory, as Seattle took down the Timbers 1-0.
