Ray Lewis, the Ravens linebacker, and one of the all-time NFL greats announced today that this will be his final season in the NFL. Ray Lewis will be hanging up his cleats after a mere 17 seasons, and you bet we will be rooting for his Ravens in the playoffs to do something special. “This will be my last ride,” Lewis said. Ray will be leaving the NFL with a decent resume which includes 13 Pro Bowls, a seven time first-team All-Pro and NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice.

The seven-time All-Pro didn’t say if he would play, but confirmed he’s physically ready to take the field. Lewis was activated late last month, but hasn’t played in a game since he tore his triceps during a Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
NFL.com’s Albert Breer cited two sources in the room to report that Lewis addressed teammates Wednesday. The 37-year-old linebacker rose to his feet and spoke about playing for one another and the bond between teammates before dropping the news on the stunned gathering.
