The 2012-13 basketball season — both college and pro — has been one for the ages in regards to botched free throw attempts. The bar was set incomparably high (low?) back in December with this errant attempt from Appalachian State’s Brian Okam, which traversed about halfway down the lane before landing with a resounding thud. A few NBA players have also been involved in their own misadventures from the charity stripe, including DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard, Dwight Howard again, Dwight Howard a third time, and a quartet of guys named “Smith” — Ish, J.R., Greg and Josh.
However, none of the aforementioned shots compares to this act of futility from a player at Division II Georgia College. The Bobcats lost to the Lady Cougars of Columbus State 70-60 on Saturday night, in a game marred by quite possibly the worst free throw in the history of civilization (© Bill Walton).
