Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper is an All-Star. ESPN reports that Harper will replace injured Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton will miss four-to-six weeks due to a knee injury.
At 19-years-old, Harper will become the [second] youngest All-Star in the history of the MLB (Dwight Gooden, 19, 1984 All-Star Game). He is currently hitting .238 and has eight home runs, 25 RBIs and 42 runs scored in just 61 games played.
Stanton lasted only two innings after returning to the Marlins’ lineup on Saturday. He had previously missed four games with right knee discomfort, and is now scheduled to have surgery in Miami on Sunday. He would have been the only Marlin to make the All-Star Game.
