Good morning, campers! We’re down to the wire in the Big Skeezy Challenge 2011 and, unfortunately for Big Skeezy, have started in on the most delicious time of year. Yes, it’s that wonderfully caloric month between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving was last week and Big Skeezy went in having lost 103 pounds on the year. Would the long weekend be his undoing or would he be able to fight the urge to splurge? Let’s break it down, shall we?
I was feeling good last Tuesday because of a surprisingly successful weigh-in and because I had two more days of work before I basked in the laziness of four days off. I figured that Thursday, known throughout most of the country as “Thanksgiving”, would be my cheat day so I was relatively well-behaved on Tuesday and Wednesday. I spent Tuesday night making pies for a couple of friends I work with, who we’ll call “Lauren” and “Sabrina”. They were sour cream apple pies and I’m told they were delicious:
Wednesday night it was over to the house to start prep work on the Thanksgiving feast as well as indulge in a few cocktails. The turkey went into the brien, I fell asleep and it was up early to prepare Lilly, our Thanksgiving feast. She got a nice oil massage before disappearing into the oven for a few hours. When she emerged, she had a lovely tan:
Thanksgiving day was spent eating like a jerk but that’s what Thanksgiving is for, after all. My friend “Joey” and I left for his place after dinner, but only after a group of us walked to a local bar to find it closed. Little did I know that I’d just embarked on quite the weekend.
Friday I awoke and we made a trip to Ralph’s for supplies. Chicken, spinach dip fixin’s and some spiced rum. “Joey” and I spent Friday eating, drinking and watching football. Our friend “Keith” joined us for a bit and we had a great time. Saturday we headed back towards Los Angeles to tailgate at USC. Here again, the day was spent indulging.
Sunday came and it was time for football. I had every intention of being a bit more behaved that day but a quick trip to the bowling alley for a couple of breakfast Long Islands steered that boat in a different direction. Again, it was a day of indulgence. I was on vacation, after all.
Monday it was absolutely back to the grind for me. Bike, eating right, exercise, bed early, etc. I knew that this morning it was going to be rough. The question was how rough? Would I dip back under the 100 mark? I stepped onto the scale to find that I gained some weight, but only two pounds. Whew! That rolls me back to 101 on the year and 269 overall. Not good, but far better than I expected it to be.
This week is going to be one of focus, for sure. I’d like to hit the 125 mark by the end of the year because I think that would really tie the room together. Stay tuned.
