8. The Olympics:
Friends become foes and foes will become friends during the NHL’s 2014 Olympic break. The NHL’s best talent will go over to Sochi to compete for their respective country’s while NHL coaches and fans hold their breath, hoping to avoid any big injuries.
The break throws a wrinkle into the NHL schedule and can have a pretty sizable impact on the flow of the season, so it will be interesting to see how each team handles the break. The Olympic break is also set to end just about a week before the trading deadline also, so that’s going to be fun.
