“Snakes On A Plane.” You will probably read that headline a lot over the next few days. Why? On a recent Qantas Airways flight from Australia’s northeastern city of Cairns to Papua New Guinea, a 10-foot python was clinging to the wing of the plane for the entire two-hour flight.
Qantas passengers first noticed the humungous snake curled up under the left wing of the twin-propeller Bombardier Q400 about half way through the flight. The snake fought hard to hold on, as the wind speed during the flight reached 250 mph and the temperature was around 10 °F, but it could not survive the brutal beating it took and was found dead when the plane landed.
