Michael Jordan’s highly-coveted game-worn Nike Air Ship 1s that he wore during his rookie season are going up for auction today.
While the Air Jordan 1 is the most widely-celebrated basketball shoe in sneaker history, it was actually the Air Ship that got Nike in trouble with the NBA and led to the infamous letter which threatened to fine Jordan each time he wore the black-red colorway of the Air Ship (not the Air Jordan 1 as Nike would would insinuate in one of its most famous commercials).
The Air Ship that is up for auction is considered to be the earliest pair of professional game-worn Michael Jordan sneakers ever to be put up for auction.
