Metta World Peace is taking his talents to China to play for the Sichuan Blue Whales. He will also be playing under a new nickname – The Panda Friend.
In order to show that he’s really a friend of the panda, World Peace also unveiled the shoe that he plans to play in this season. The shoe comes in an all-white colorway, an all-black colorway and I kid you not, a detachable panda head.
Not gimmicky enough for you? Metta World Peace also plans to throw the panda heads into the crowd before games. Those who catch it will “The Panda’s Friend”, erhm, panda friend for the day.
“…before every game, I will be wearing the white or black shoes. The top part of the shoe has a panda on it…it is removable. I will be throwing it to a friend in the crowd. The person who catches it will be the Panda’s Friend of the day.”
And yet, somehow these aren’t the worst teddy-bear themed sneakers in existence.
