A man is being charged with theft of property after he brazenly decided to drive away with a truck filled with 7,500 pairs of Nike LeBron 12s back in early November.
The theft came courtesy of Charles Jennings, who worked for a cargo transportation company which was tasked with moving the shoes. Jennings simply used his ID to get access to the truck and he drove off with 15,000 LeBron 12 shoes. Ocean’s 11, this wasn’t.
The estimated retail value of that many shoes is about $1.5 million (LeBron 12s retail for $200). However, since the cargo haul contained shoes which hadn’t been released to the general public at that time, Jennings’ stood to make a tidy bit more before he was caught.
Jennings also wasted little time offloading the shoes. By the time that he was caught a week later, about 700 pairs of LeBron 12s were missing from the haul (if you bought a pair of LeBrons from a private entity in the Memphis area in the first half of November, this may be a good time to check your receipt).
Jennings reportedly confessed to the crime after he was caught. The sneaker game is nuts.
