Miami Marlins outfielder (and new Sports Illustrated body paint model) Giancarlo Stanton will become the first player in MLB history to wear a personalized facemask on his helmet this upcoming season.
Stanton’s new facemask – designed and manufactured by Schutt Sports, who are generally known for their football helmets – will feature a stylized letter ‘G’ in the design. Check it out below:
The mask is made out of a carbon steel frame that can withstand 100-mph pitches, something that became a priority for Stanton after his season was cut short by a Mike Fiers fastball to the face last September.
According to Schutt, the unique helmet and guard comes with a pricetag between $500 and $1,000. Stanton shouldn’t have a problem affording that.
