This was the scary scene from Milwaukee on Thursday night when Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers drilled Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton in the face with a pitch. Stanton looked to take the pitch in the jaw and began bleeding profusely before receiving medical attention from trainers on hand. The outfielder was eventually placed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. To make matters worse, Stanton’s dad was at the game.

You can see the incident unfold below but – as a warning – it’s tough to watch.

As you can see in the video, Stanton actually managed to swing through the zone on the pitch, which meant that pitch was actually strike two of the at-bat. After Stanton left the game, the pinch hitter that replaced him, Reed Johnson, proceeded to get hit by the very next pitch while also swinging through the zone. The home plate umpire ruled it strike three and the benches emptied.

Just a messy, messy scene all around. We just hope Stanton is okay.
