It’s no secret that DC Entertainment is lagging behind Marvel in creating a movie-verse rife with crossovers and merchandising opportunities galore.
Based on their plans for the next couple of years, DC is very serious about playing catch-up. Entertainment reporter Nikki Finke claims to have gotten her hands on DC and Warner Bros’ planned movie schedule which is to be unveiled at the San Diego Comic Con. Incredibly, the plan outlines three DC movies per year in 2016 and 2017. Oh, and one of them is a standalone Wonder Woman movie.
May 2016 – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
July 2016 – Shazam
Christmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Christmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2
Now, it may be wise to take this with a grain of salt considering that rolling out three movies in a year is incredibly ambitious. Batman vs. Superman? Another Man of Steel? A Flash and Green Lantern team-up? That sounds like more than one studio can handle in such a short time frame. On the other hand… Gal Gadot in her own Wonder Woman movie? Hell yes.
