Get ready for some more hackin’, kids.
Back in 2014, Ubisoft released their AAA game Watch Dogs, a game about an angry hacker who angrily hacks with his way through the angry streets of Chicago. Although the game had some interesting gameplay innovations and did okay in ratings, it wasn’t the hit everyone had expected. Maybe it was the tone, maybe it was disappointment in certain technical specs, maybe it was something else; either way, it just didn’t catch on with fans.
It’s sequel, Watch Dogs 2, is hoping to change people’s minds, as Ubisoft has released a gameplay trailer for E3. Taking place in San Francisco, it takes on a more playful tone, as a couple of millennial computer geniuses crack wise with each other while dealing out some hefty justice and property damage.
It’s 11 fun minutes of hacking, drones, and Eric B. and Rakim. The game definitely seems to be having more fun itself than the first game did, if nothing else. Looks like good times are on their way again, thanks to Ubisoft.
