People may disagree, but I’m a fan of Tom Hanks. The guy has had a solid career from start to finish (The Money Pit, Turner & Hooch, BIG, Man With One Red Shoe, The Burbs, Joe v The Volcano, Saving Private Ryan, Catch me if You Can, Road to Perdition, Charlie Wilson’s War etc..). That isn’t to say he hasn’t crapped the bed with a few acting choices (Angels and Demons, The Terminal, Elvis Has Left the Building etc..), but what actor hasn’t? The fact of the matter is that Tom seems like a good dude, so when I saw he spoke to the Yale Class of 2011 (yearly “Class Day” speech), it was a no-brainer use of 20 minutes of my life. I felt it was worth the time spent.
