Today, in other terrifying animal news, we visit a farm in Chirka — a small village near the Russian republic of Dagestan — where a prized ewe recently gave birth. The farmer, Blasius Lavrentiev, had been desperately awaiting its arrival, as he planned to sell the lamb in order to pull himself out of a financial rut. What he discovered instead was a grossly deformed face that was more old man than cute baby sheep.
“We had quite a tough winter but when I noticed she was pregnant I was delighted as it meant I would be able to sell the lambs and start making some money again. But when I went down to see how it was going I nearly died.”
The good news is that the mother has been receptive to her offspring.
