This week, a senseless and horrific crime killed three young girls and sent several more to the hospital after a knife-wielding teenager attacked a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in the United Kingdom.

The New York Post reported on Tuesday that three young girls – ages six, seven, and nine – were killed by the assailant while eight more young girls were hospitalized with five in critical condition. Additionally, two adults remain in critical condition after they were injured trying to stop the attack.

As news of the horrible and senseless crime spread, Taylor Swift issued a statement on social media in which she said she was “completely in shock” as a result of the tragedy.

“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I’m just completely in shock,” Swift wrote on her Instagram story.

“The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

It was a horrific and devastating incident, and many took to social media to mourn the loss of the children and express their outrage at the senseless loss of life.

Our thoughts and prayers are will everyone affected by the devastating tragedy.
