Beloved television anchor Robin Roberts, who revealed that she had been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (a blood and bone marrow disease) last June, has announced that she will be returning to the anchor desk of Good Morning America shortly after Labor Day.
Though she hasn’t returned to full-time duties since undergoing a bone marrow transplant last August, Roberts hasn’t made several TV appearances and has filled in part-time on the morning show since February.
Roberts, a longtime broadcaster and anchor for ESPN and ABC, continues to be a source of inspiration not only in the sports world, but in life as well. In addition to overcoming her bone marrow disease, she also battled through breast cancer from 2007-2008.
As a result, Roberts was honored with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the 2013 ESPYs earlier this year, where she delivered a very emotional and inspirational speech. It’s going to be good to have her back.
