Richard Kiel, the 7’2 actor who played Mr. Larson in the 1996 Adam Sandler film Happy Gilmore, passed away at age 74 on Wednesday. According to TMZ, Kiel broke his leg last week and was being hospitalized in California, though it’s not known if his death is related to the injury.
Kiel rose to fame after portraying the James Bond villain ‘Jaws’ in two separate films in the 1970s, but younger sports fans will probably know him best as the giant who chased down Shooter McGavin for the Gilmore’s championship jacket. May he rest easy in heaven with Chubbs, the alligator and Abraham Lincoln.
