Macklemore recently took a trip with Joe La Puma of Complex to do some sneaker shopping where the rapper divulged a rather amusing story about the time that he got to meet Michael Jordan.
Last year, Macklemore was lucky enough to get a couple of player exclusives from Jordan Brand; an Air Jordan VI in green suede upper and an Air Jordan Vi in a red suede upper. Both made for some seriously sweet-looking lifestyle sneakers.
So, when Macklemore got the chance to meet the Jumpman himself, he proudly showed him the plans for the coveted Air Jordan VI exclusives that he helped design.
Jordan’s reaction?
Not particularly encouraging (skip to about 3:30 in the above video for the relevant bit).
“I showed him the shoe. And you know I have two pairs, the greens and the clays. And he was like, ‘I don’t like green. Fuck green. It reminds me of some Christmas shit. Like, no one’s trying to wear some Christmas shoes.’
He just completely discarded my colorway and I was like, ‘Ok, still gonna do it. It may fuck the game up but I hear you.'”
Michael Jordan hates green shoes. You learn something new every day.
