It’s October, and you know what means: it’s public hazing season for NBA rookies. Sunday’s hazing action included LeBron James pulling the old “let’s have the rookies lead us out of the tunnel, but everyone actually hang back” move, which resulted in Cleveland Cavaliers rookies Joe Kirk and Alex Harris finding themselves standing alone in front of the Quicken Loans Arena crowd. Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers, in keeping with the NBA tradition of live, um, performances (my all-time favorite is the Blazers’ annual tradition of forcing all rookies to perform “The Dougie”), forced poor Damjan Rudez to “sing” Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” at mid court. The 28-year-old Rudez, who hails from Croatia, probably considers himself a little for these types of shenanigans, but rules are rules, dude. In all fairness, his rendition isn’t the worst thing we’ve ever heard.
