Nas vs. Jay Z
Started in 96’, Nas was killin it after releasing Illmatic. In one of his songs he throws a jab at Jay-Z, then in an interview, admits that a couple verses were inspired by Jay. After that, things went down hill.. Memphis Bleek (Jay Z’s protégé) got involved and stirred the pot after releasing “Coming of Age”. The beef went even deeper after Jay Z released, “Takeover” on the Blueprint, he calls out Nas directly at the end of his second verse. Nas came back with “Ether”, taking stabs at Jay Z, it was lyrically superior to Takeover. But, it really got personal when Jay Z released “Supa Ugly” and admits to being with Nas’ baby’s mom. The two had a rival that went back and forth for a few years. In the end, Jay Z apologized for having gone too far. Jay brought out Nas on his “I Declare War” show, and both shared the stage together and shook hands.
