I don’t think Nicki Minaj is shaking in her boots or anything. Just let it be known that Taylor Swift seems to be fully embracing the pop music “mandatory but totally unnecessary” rap bridge formula as well.
Admittedly “Shake It Off” is fairly catchy and I’ll probably listen to it for weeks on end but cheer-cadenced lines like “to the fella over there with the hella good hair” aren’t likely to be immortalized among hip-hop’s all-time great zingers. Maybe next time T-Sizzle.
