Coach calls V-Tech women’s lacrosse team chanting the N-Word a “teachable moment”

In the song “Freaky Friday,” by Lil Dicky and Chris Brown, the N-word is said quite a bit by the latter in an ironic fashion. Virginia Tech’s women’s lacrosse team appeared to be fans of the song and are now in hot water for posting an unfortunate sing-a-long video.

The video, featuring what appears to be prominently white players, shows the women on the team singing the N-word.

Honestly, it’s embarrassing someone thought it was OK to post this on social media. While I don’t think this is blatant racism, the women on the team need to have better judgment than to sing-a-long to a part of a song with so many n-words in it.

Coach John Sung said the moment was “not something that we’re proud of,” and called it a “teachable moment.”

“This is a teachable moment,” Sung told the Times. “It’s not something that we’re proud of. The team is very apologetic and sorry. There’s nobody of any color that should say it. Period. There’s nobody that should say it.”

He’s not wrong.

Simply put, the team needs to show better judgment than this. It makes the school, the team and themselves look bad.

Plus, the song is trash.
