The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has one of the most catchy and legendary theme songs in TV history, with just about any 90’s lover willing to rattle off Will Smith’s melody. It’s been used in hundreds of parody videos, blared through boom boxes and recited a million times by Fresh Prince fanatics. But, until now, it’s never been the focus of a Jeopardy! clue.
During Monday’s episode of the long-running NBC game show, the incomparable Alex Trebek uncomfortably rapped the last few lines of the song. We’ll give the willing-to-read-anything Trebek props for attempting to rap the lines but it was very painful. However, the worst part might’ve been the contestants’ straight-faced non-reactions to receiving a clue from the iconic series.
