It might just look like a lovely four-bedroom Victorian in the quaint town of Perryopolis (Penn.), 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, but it’s so much more. This house served as the home to one of the most creepy movie characters in one of the most creepy movies of all-time. Buffalo Bill’s house from Silence of the Lambs is for sale.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 1991 film’s production crew revamped the home over a six-week period from a normal house into a terrifying abode for the killer played by Ted Levine. They used the dining room and foyer as filming locations over a three-day period.
The home is for sale for $300,000 and features an in-ground pool and awesome vintage caboose as the pool house.
“People love to be scared,” real estate agent Dianne Will told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review . “I could see somebody doing something fun with this.”
Um….not me. Nothing fun can be done with Buffalo Bill’s house.
The film won five Academy Awards, including sweeping honors in Best Picture, Actor (Anthony Hopkins), Actress (Jodie Foster) and Director (Jonathan Demme).
