Roger Goodell has yet to defend his decision to suspend Ray Rice for two games after Rice allegedly knocked his wife unconscious in an Atlantic City elevator. But, earlier this morning, Adolpho Birch — the NFL’s Senior VP of Labor Policy — allowed himself to be interviewed by Mike & Mike. You can watch the full video below, but in case you don’t want to watch Birch take a shit on the airwaves for 11 minutes and navigate his way around some pretty simple questions, here’s a quick summary….
- Birch believes that the two-game suspension was appropriate and that “it’s fair to say that that doesn’t reflect that you condone the behavior. I think we can put that to rest.”
- Birch refuses to say if the NFL had access to more video footage of the alleged incident, citing privacy issues.
- Birch is asked, again, if the commissioner saw more video footage that is supposedly more disturbing than the original video. Birch refuses to answer, again. He cites privacy, again.
The league’s response to it demonstrates that we don’t condone the behavior and that we expect our players, our coaches, our staff, anyone associated with the league, not to behave that way.”
This sort of bullshit goes on for the entirety of the interview. Luckily for us, both Mikes didn’t let Birch off the hook.
