NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager is battling leukemia and his chemotherapy treatments prevented him from attending last night’s NBA Draft in Brooklyn. However, he was there in spirit…and in cardboard cutout form.
NBA TV brought an honorary cardboard version of Sager to the festivities at Barclay’s Center on Thursday, and several of the night’s draftees took the opportunity to pose for pictures with Cardboard Craig.
It was a pretty cool gesture on the part of the network and one that I’m sure Sager appreciated very much. Hopefully he’ll be able to attend next year’s draft after making a full recovery.
