Bill Simmons — everyone’s favorite sports guy — is leaving “NBA Countdown.” But don’t fret, fans of Bill. Because Simmons will be creating his own Grantland-themed NBA show that will air on ESPN.

Simmons’ new show will be titled “The Grantland Basketball Show.” According to a press release from ESPN, the show will debut October 21st. From the release:
The Grantland Basketball Show will feature lively discussion about a variety of NBA topics, facilitated by Simmons, with a rotating group of Grantland commentators and other contributors. Up to 18 one-hour, primetime episodes of The Grantland Basketball Show will air throughout the NBA season on ESPN, including eight during the regular-season and eight during the NBA Playoffs and NBA Finals. Other episodes are planned for the NBA Draft and the NBA’s free agency period.”
This sounds like a win-win to me. If you aren’t a fan of Simmons’ style, you can watch “NBA Countdown” without having to channel your inner Sage Steele. And, if you’re a fan of Simmons — like me — you’re getting up to 18 episodes of a Grantland-themed show.
Boom.
