Aquaman has been fighting a reputation for being “uncool” almost as long as he’s been ruling Atlantis. And while DC Comics has tried to make the character more palatable for audiences by making him incredibly strong and fast, giving him a hook for a hand and a giant beard, the popular perception of the character is still that damned SuperFriends TV show which more or less made Aquaman into a semi-strong Dr. Doolittle.

There could only be a few humans who could possibly re-imagine this and make it cool. Zach Snyder is banking on one of them. Jason Momoa, best known for his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, is reportedly set to play the fish-talker in the upcoming movie Batman v. Superman. While there’s nothing official, on Friday Hitflix confidently stated that this is happening and that Aquaman is going to appear in a movie featuring Batman and Superman. His role will reportedly involve lecturing Superman over how punching things really hard has led to disturbances in the Indian Ocean.
Yeah, this whole “making Aquaman cool” thing isn’t getting off to the best start. Momoa will (reportedly) have his work cut out for him.
