James Franco had the honor of being the grand marshal for The Daytona 500 on Sunday, and it will most likely be his last time. As with tradition, the grand marshal is responsible for only one little speaking role in which you simply say into a microphone, “ladies and gentlemen start your engines.” However, James decided to take some liberties with the traditional starting call and changed it to, “Drivers, and Danica, start your engines.” We aren’t sure if this was on purpose and meant as a sign of respect to Danica Patrick for winning the pole position at The Daytona 500, or if it was a slight to Danica as the phrasing would suggest. Either way, it is never smart to stray from tradition, especially when you only have one job.
