The NBA season may be tipping off tonight, but Tank-a-Palooza 2014 doesn’t officially get underway until 7 pm (Eastern) Wednesday, when the Miami Heat will almost assuredly trounce the Philadelphia 76ers in the City of Brotherly Love. There’s been a lot of talk surrounding Philly’s epic tanking plan, especially after Las Vegas odds makers set a historically low over/under bar of 16.5 wins. And, because piling on the Sixers is all the rage in the NBA these days, their championship odds almost broke the computers.
LVH oddsmaker Jeff Sherman set the Sixers’ odds at winning the title at 9,999-1 — the highest number the computers allow. Obviously, the betting line is more symbolic than anything, and just another reminder of how truly awful the Sixers will be this season.
