Yesterday’s picks of the Spurs and Thunder were fantastic as was our prediction that the Pacers would take down the Heat. Our only loss of the day was betting on the atrocious Knicks. Perhaps betting on any NBA team from the New York metro area is a terrible mistake right now. I think we’re going to stay away from those guys for a while for the sake of your pocket and my sanity. Let’s jump in to Wednesday’s games.
Clippers -5 @ Celtics
Doc Rivers will make his return to Boston tonight as he leads the Clippers into TD Garden to take on the Celtics. The Boston crowd is obviously going to be hostile towards Rivers, though there will probably be a significant number of pro-Rivers fans in the seats. Will the Clippers be fired up to play an inspired brand of basketball for their coach? Will the Celtics thrive off of the crowd’s energy? The answer to both of those questions is probably yes. I’ll give the edge to the Clippers tonight because they are rested and are the more quality team. Brad Stevens has been fantastic as coach of the Celtics; however, the Celts played last night in Brooklyn and playing the energetic Clippers on a back-to-back is a recipe for disaster. Clippers by 12.
Bulls +3 @ Knicks
Well if we can’t bet ON the New York area teams, can we bet AGAINST them? Sure, I’m making that a new rule also. Always bet against NYC basketball in 2013. The Bulls are a seriously depleted team and I’m not even sure who’s playing tonight; however, Chicago still has one of the best defenses in the Association. The Knicks are just a mess and have been dropping games by double digits all season. New York is favored in this game. THE KNICKS ARE FAVORED IN A GAME. Bet against them. Bet against them. Bet against them. Have I said it enough? Ok. Bulls by 4.
Thunder -6 @ Grizzlies
I don’t know why I keep picking road teams but it seems as though the odds makers are severely discounting road teams as of late. The Thunder are one the best teams in the NBA and are probably the hottest team in the league having won 11 of their last 12. On top of that, the Grizzlies are only 5-7 at home and are without their two best defenders in Marc Gasol and Tony Allen. So, once again, I’ll ask the question: Who is guarding Kevin Durant? Who is preventing Russell Westbrook from getting to the hole? No one. Thunder by 10.
