These days, Germany is known for many things: beer, Oktoberfest, sausages, and Volkswagen making “clean” cars. One thing most people forget, though, is that Germany is home to Adidas, one the largest sports brand in the world.
At least, it has been home to the corporation. For over 20 years, however, the actual shoes that people buy, swearing they will start running again as soon they have time, have been made throughout Asia. As of 2017, Adidas has been looking to bring their production home. According to the Guardian, the brand will be using a “Speed Factory” they have developed in southern Germany, using automated robots rather than chil… er, people, for mass production. This, according to the sports brand themselves, will allow the company to produce their products closer to outlets and stores.
Adidas has also stated their intentions to have Speed Factories developed in Britain, France, and even the United States, which leaves us with a few questions: Is this the next step to the robot revolution? Will Sky Net com sooner now that they are powered by beer? Will Korn get a chance to redo their song “A.D.I.D.A.S”? Will cars be made by hands again now to complete the cycle?
