After months and months and months of rumors and whispers, True Detective Season 2 FINALLY has a confirmed star! After being asked about his rumored involvement, Colin Farrell told The Sunday World recently that he would indeed be featured in the HBO show’s second season. He also offered some other vague details:
“I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”
Television is a bit of foreign territory for Farrell – as it was for Matthew McConaughey prior to his role in season one – but the Irish actor seems pretty excited about the opportunity:
“It’s extraordinary; [television] has reached a new level. You get to familiarise yourself with characters week after week. You get to build a life that takes a while to experience as an actor and also that takes a while to experience as a viewer. There’s just a greater sense of life to it.”
Farrell couldn’t confirm any other co-stars, but rumored names include Taylor Kitsch, Ewan McGregor, Vince Vaughn, Elisabeth Moss, and Rachel McAdams.
Considering the timeline laid out by Farrell and the lack of confirmed cast and plot details , it’s looking like we will have to wait until the spring or summer for the second season at the earliest. Regardless, I’m still pumped.
In the meantime, though, entertain yourself with this True Detective intro remade to fit The Wire style.
