Bud Light has received a lot of backlash in recent months after the iconic tailgate beer brand partnered with popular transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. As a result of the partnership, conservatives across the country began boycotting the popular beer brand, and now it seems that those boycotts are affecting more than just the company’s bottom line.
On Thursday, Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch announced that it has been forced to lay off hundreds of the company’s employees, saying that the layoffs “will simplify and reduce layers within its organization.”
“Today we took the very difficult but necessary decision to eliminate a number of positions across our corporate organization,” said Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth in a statement to CNN. “While we never take these decisions lightly, we want to ensure that our organization continues to be set for future long-term success.”
It’s pretty horrible news for a brand that was America’s best-selling beer brand for the past two decades, and it led to plenty of reactions on social media as a result.
Bud Light layoffs show something that is always true. The suffering from corporate problems will never hit the wealthy or the stockholders
It will always hit the working class first. Always. Remember that the next time you want to boycott something

Anheuser-Busch has been hit with mass layoffs as Bud Light continues to struggle following a woke partnership with Dylan Mulvaney.
Hundreds of people have now lost their jobs as the company's decline continues.https://t.co/QdrNWWd0jn

Somehow, I expect it's just the blue collar workers that'll pay the price for Anheuser, not the execs responsible.

I’m sorry the workers are suffering from managements poor decisions. Publicly traded companies should “know better” than to take a side (regardless of the side) on any political issue. Especially a hot button…

This is why I don't like boycotts, because Americans lose their jobs, but Anheuser-Busch did it to themselves. I wish organizations would keep politics out of their business. Offending half of your customers is not a good business model.

Good job, @gop.Guess ya think all those workers are Dems, huh🥴 https://t.co/DSjNAjb1qg

Not that I agree with this particular boycott, but it illustrates the power that a real boycott can have. Most just talk boycott when an issue initially pops up, but they'll continue buying it cuz they don't want to truly give up something they like.

It’s worth noting that Anheuser-Busch claims the layoffs will not include any of the company’s frontline staff such as “brewery and warehouse staff, drivers, and field sales, among others.” Instead, it appears to be a corporate layoff.
